A work permit is an authorisation issued by Canadian immigration authorities. It states who you can work for, what job you can do and for how long. Most candidates hired through Casyan receive an employer-specific (closed) work permit tied to the Canadian company that hired them.
The permit is not a visa in itself: depending on your nationality you will also receive a temporary resident visa or an eTA to enter the country. Both are handled in the same application file.
Step by step
1. You register a free profile and choose the type of work you want. 2. You complete your profile and upload your passport. 3. Casyan presents your profile to Canadian employers hiring in that category. 4. The employer selects you and issues a job offer and employment contract. 5. Your work permit application is prepared and submitted with the LMIA and the contract. 6. You attend biometrics and, if requested, a medical exam. 7. The permit is approved and you travel to Canada.
Typical time from a signed job offer to arrival in Canada is 3 to 8 months, depending on the province, the employer and the visa office in your country.
Who decides
Immigration decisions are made exclusively by Canadian government authorities. No employer, agency or intermediary can guarantee approval, and you should be careful with anyone who says otherwise. What can be controlled is the quality of your file: complete documents, consistent information and correct forms.

After you arrive
Once in Canada you receive your Social Insurance Number, open a bank account and start work under Canadian labour law: minimum wage, overtime, days off and workplace safety rules apply to you exactly as to local employees.
After working legally in Canada, many workers become eligible for permanent residence programs. Eligibility depends on the province, your occupation and the length of your Canadian work experience.

Can I change employer with a closed work permit?
Not immediately. A closed permit is tied to one employer. You can apply to change employer later, which requires a new offer and usually a new LMIA.
How long is the permit valid?
Usually between 12 and 24 months for the positions on this site, and it can be extended while your employment continues.
Do I need English for the permit?
No language test is required for most entry-level positions. Driver and skilled-trade roles may require basic English.
